Federated Sweepstakes Grand Prize Winner Presented with 'Sweet Ride' at AAPEX

STAUNTON, Va. – Federated customer Don Nyland of Max's Car Care in Black Canyon City, Ariz., was not planning on being in Las Vegas during Industry Week. However, when he found out he was the grand prize winner of the Federated “Sweet Ride” Sweepstakes, Nyland set out for Vegas to collect his prize, the “Sweet Ride” Corvette.

The Federated “Sweet Ride” Corvette, featured this season on “Two Guys Garage” on SPEED, was presented to Nyland Nov. 1 during AAPEX at the Sands Exposition Center in Las Vegas. On hand for the presentation were Federated spokesman and NASCAR legend Kenny Schrader as well as Kevin Byrd, one of the co-hosts of “Two Guys Garage” on SPEED.

“Our annual sweepstakes contest is a great way for us to say thank you to our loyal Federated Car Care members, and we want to congratulate Don Nyland on being the grand prize winner this year,” said Phil Moore, senior vice president of Federated Auto Parts. “It was great that Don could make it to Las Vegas on such short notice to accept his ‘sweet ride’ prize. We want to thank Kenny Schrader and Kevin Byrd for being on-hand for our special presentation. It was a lot of fun and we know Don is thrilled with the Corvette.”

In addition to the “Sweet Ride” Corvette, hundreds of other prizes were awarded to Federated Car Care Center members including such other “sweet rides” as go-karts, bicycles and die cast cars. The contest was open to any Federated Car Care Center member who was enrolled by Oct. 15.

Philips GoPure at AAPEX

High-tech air filtration systems and HEPA filters are becoming standard fare in luxury vehicles these days, but what are you going to do about that funny smell in your 2004 Chevy Aveo? There's only so much that a pine tree air freshener can do.

Perhaps you should check out the newly announced Philips GoPure Automotive Clean Air System.
The GoPure was the odd bird in Philips' booth at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas, which was otherwise filled with the manufacturer's line of automotive lighting products. This portable air filtration system is aimed at motorists with allergies, drivers with small children who may be sensitive to airborne germs and particles, and people who want to remove bad smells from the air in their car.

The GoPure takes advantage of a three-stage filtration process that Philips says was developed by its Healthcare division. The first stage is coarse prefilter that captures hair and large airborn particles. The next stage is a HEPA filter that captures fine particulates, such as dust and pollen, and airborne bacteria. The final stage consists of three HESA filters that Philips claims will reduce bad odors such as cigarette smoke. The GoPure circulates air through its filtration system with a two-speed fan. Philips claims that the GoPure can clean the air in a car's cabin in about 10 minutes when set to its high-speed "boost" mode.

The demonstration unit on display at AAPEX 2011 sat on the dashboard of a 2012 Fiat 500 and was held in place with a suction cup--a great position for showcasing the product, but I wouldn't want to drive around like that. Philips' product shots showcase some better mounting and placement options, such as under a seat, on the rear parcel shelf, and affixed the back of a seat. Wherever it's mounted, the GoPure draws its power from a 12V plug and automatically powers on and off with the vehicle's ignition.

Sensors and LED indicators illuminate to communicate the current ambient air quality. Blue is very good; deep purple is good; and light purple is poor. Lights automatically dim at night to minimize glare while driving. There's also a filter replacement indicator to let owners know when to swap the HESA and HEPA filters.

The Philips GoPure carries an MSRP of $249.99, but I'm already seeing prices as low as $185 around the Net.

MAM Software Group Inc. : MAM reports successful Aftermarket Industry Week »

11/10/2011 | 12:05 pm
MAM reports successful Aftermarket Industry Week MAM Software Inc reflects on successful AWDA Conference and AAPEX ShowMAM Software Inc has reported a highly successful attendance at this year's Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week (AAIW), which included the Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA) Business & Education Conference and the AAPEX (Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo) Show.

The 64th Annual AWDA Business & Education Conference provided an opportunity for MAM representatives to meet 1-on-1 with customers and prospects from the aftermarket's warehouse distributor community. The event was extremely successful and MAM's scheduled meetings were so extensively oversubscribed that additional appointments had to be arranged outside of the event.

With an estimated 50,000 qualified buyers in attendance, the AAPEX Show was the ideal platform for MAM Software to launch its new Warehouse Management Software (WMS) and Business Intelligence (BI) module. Both releases, which integrate with MAM's existing Autopart management application, were extremely well received and attracted a great deal of interest from both current and prospective users.

Warehouse Management Software (WMS)
MAM's new Warehouse Management Software is an add-on for its Autopart management application that optimizes the flow of goods through a warehouse. Utilizing wireless hand-held scanners, the application handles all aspects of warehouse activity including put away, goods receiving, replenishment, inventory counts, picking and packing. The devices interact directly with Autopart where a dedicated dashboard summarizes activity and enables managers to analyze and prioritize operations.

EMI+ Business Intelligence (BI) module
MAM's new EMI+ Business Intelligence module enables managers to analyze business performance. It allows customizable reports and charts to be generated and viewed in a dedicated PC dashboard, or remotely on portable devices such as iPhones and iPads. KPIs can be monitored and specific event triggers configured so that managers receive alert notifications via e-mail. This allows extraordinary events, such as sales drift, to be identified early and the appropriate action taken.

"It has been a hugely rewarding week" said Brian Allibon, President of MAM Software Inc. "The launch of our paperless WMS features and our new BI tool were both very successful, and we were inundated with AWDA meeting requests. For the first time, we had to arrange additional sessions following on from the AWDA conference. We are delighted with the inquiries we received, which is further evidence of the growing reputation we have in the USA and the increased demand for our products and solutions."

CRC Industries launches new website at AAPEX

Posted on November 8, 2011

CRC Industries Inc. has made major upgrades to its website, and the new design was officially launched last week at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas, Nev.
"Our primary goals in overhauling the website were to make it easy to navigate, graphically demonstrate the breadth of CRC's multiple product lines, and also integrate our news feed, social media and motorsports program,” said CRC marketing manager Dori Ahart.
Ahart said CRC has also incorporated digital catalogs so that the company’s sales literature – available in both English and Spanish - can be quickly and conveniently viewed and searched online without downloading.
"Social media is a big part of our marketing strategy going forward," said Ahart. "The people who use our products are knowledgeable and passionate about what they do and how they do it. We want to interact with them and share in their successes and challenges."
CRC selected GPM Web Solutions for the site redesign project based on the web developer's expertise in search engine optimization and their ability to build user-friendly content management systems.
CRC plans to further enhance the site by incorporating a technicians' blog, more product demonstration videos, articles and tips on using CRC products. View the CRC website atwww.crcindustries.com/auto.
