TRW Launches Premium Aftermarket Chassis Program At AAPEX

LIVONIA, Mich. – TRW Automotive Holdings Corp.used this year’s Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) as a platform to launch an all-makes premium chassis program into the North American aftermarket.

TRW says it will draw on the company's more than 100 years of experience as a manufacturer of original equipment (OE) quality automotive technologies for this aftermarket offering, which complements TRW’s range of premium, all-makes disc brake pad parts.

The program will be introduced in two phases and will cover 95 percent of the vehicles in operation in North America, according to TRW. The first phase will consist of more than 2,600 SKUs and will be available from January 2013. The premium program will include control arms, ball joints, inner tie rods, stabilizer links, tie rod ends and assemblies, idler arms, and pitman arms and bushings. An additional 2,500 parts will follow by the end of 2013, the company says.

Mark Thorpe, product and marketing manager, TRW North American Aftermarket Group, commented, “We believe the time is right for this launch; that the market is ready for a viable alternative. Our experience in OE safety systems, combined with our commitment to testing our programs to the extreme, allows us to offer quality parts to the aftermarket that have been manufactured to work in perfect harmony, delivering superior safety, performance and comfort.

“TRW is a global company, with OE heritage and worldwide manufacturing capabilities. Working in tandem with our parent company also means that in the aftermarket business, we are in the unique position of being aware of forthcoming technological developments. We can tailor our programs to help future proof the area of vehicle maintenance and cater to the vehicles of tomorrow,” Thorpe said.

According to TRW, major program differentiators in the program include low friction technology where specified at OE level; all installation instructions and hardware kits – where appropriate – are included in the product box to save the installer time and avoid fitment error; the program is supported by the highest quality sales and marketing material, and will be backed by full technical support
