The Airtex team also won the Best Use of YouTube Video award in the Business-to-Consumer category for its series of “Airtex Innovations” videos, which highlight the company’s problem-solving, better-than-original equipment product designs for vehicles susceptible to known driveability issues.
“We have invested heavily in training resources that can have a real bottom-line impact on our customers’ businesses. Silla Automotive Announces New Packaging Design And Box Material

COMPTON, Calif. – Silla Automotive introduced a new packaging design for its radiators at the AAPEX Show last week. This new design will further protect and support the radiator against damage during shipping and handling and reduce the chance of bending or warping while in transit, according to the company.

The new packaging has the radiator strapped to a cardboard panel with two bands to form a module. This module is loaded into the box so the radiator is suspended on the module and firmly secured. Instapak foam is then inserted in each corner to further protect and cushion the radiator.

In addition, the quality of the box material itself has been improved and is much stronger, Silla says. The new packaging material is more rigid and will better withstand transportation damage. Also, the Instapak adds a second layer of protection to the cardboard insert. This is helpful in the event that the customer opens the box and cuts the strapping, but decides to return the radiator. The unit can be re-mounted onto the cardboard insert and strapped with tape, but if tape is not available, the radiator can still be safely re-packaged back in the box by re-using the Instapak inserts.

The company says it also plans to begin using a similar packaging design for its condenser products by adding a handle on the cardboard insert. Customers can grab the handle to pull out the condenser instead of pulling on the condenser tubing itself to gain leverage, further reducing the risk of accidental damage.

"Developing a package that protects radiators and condensers during shipping has been a long-standing challenge in our industry, but with these designs, we believe that Silla has accomplished this objective without adding significant cost to the product," Mark Hallsman, president and CEO of Silla.

LIQUI MOLY displays products at AAPEX with far reaching benefits

11-11-12

LIQUI MOLY, ace manufacturers of high quality motor oils, additives, vehicle care products and service products were well represented at the AAPEX show. The company booth occupied a floor space of 800 sq ft and displayed a host of items from their product line which includes over 4000 items.
Among the motor oils and transmission oils, additives, etc, a series of new motor oils were presented which have been developed keeping in mind requirements of engines fitted in American and Japanese vehicles. Modern engines required specific engine oils that differ in properties. Use of the wrong motor oil can have devastating effects on the engine and cause wear and tear quicker while also reducing engine service lift and wide scale damage.
Besides displaying products at the AAPERX show, LIQUI MOLY also showcased its abilities in the new JIMCO X6 SCORE trophy truck from All German Motorsports in California. This 725 HP engine is lubricated with LIQUI MOLY Synthoil Race Tech 10W-60. This sturdy and highly capable truck is on its way to Mexico for Baja 1000 where it will participate in one of the world's toughest desert races.

Universal Lubricants’ ECO ULTRA® FlexPakTM Wins AAPEX 2012 New Packaging Award for Innovation

Universal Lubricants’ ECO ULTRA® FlexPakTM
Wins AAPEX 2012 New Packaging Award for Innovation

Durable, Flexible Pouch Easier to Use and Better for the Environment

LAS VEGAS (November 1, 2012) Officials with the 2012 Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) this week awarded Universal Lubricants®, the manufacturer and distributor of one the world’s most advanced motor oils, the 2012 New Packaging Award for Innovation for its ECO ULTRA® FlexPak™. The award was presented to Universal Lubricants during an AAPEX awards ceremony on Monday, October 29 in Las Vegas where the ECO ULTRA 1-quart FlexPak made its debut.

As the nation’s first retail motor oil packaged in a sustainable, flexible stand-up pouch, the ECO ULTRA FlexPak sets a new standard in U.S. motor oil packaging. Compared to conventional hard plastic bottles, the new durable, lightweight FlexPak is made with 25 percent less material, and offers consumers a faster, easier and cleaner way to change their oil. It also gives retailers and installers a unique opportunity to offer their customers a high-performance product in an environmentally responsible package.

“Packaging our high performance motor oil, manufactured with re-refined base oil, in flexible pouches is what we call eco-innovation,” said John Wesley, CEO of Universal Lubricants. “The FlexPak’s ease of use and environmental benefits make it good news for service centers, retailers and consumers. We’re thrilled that the AAPEX New Packaging Showcase has recognized this significant step forward in motor oil packaging.”

The 2012 New Packaging Showcase award winners reflect the highest standards in packaging design set by the Institute of Packaging Professionals. Ben Miyares, president of the Packaging Management Institute, judged this year’s entries on five criteria:

·  The package demonstrates an application of a “new idea” or a creative use of existing ideas.
·  It makes use of new design, material or technique.
·  The package successfully transfers packaging principles from other industries.
·  It reflects important new marketing strategies.
·  The package reflects new manufacturing advances.

ECO ULTRA Synthetic Blend Motor Oil is made from high-quality re-refined base stocks and blended with premium performance additives. It has been the choice of many installers, service centers and fleet companies across the country for more than three years.

The tough, three-layer ECO ULTRA FlexPak features a pour-spout that prevents the traditional glugs and bubbles from bottles that cause splatters and spills. The FlexPak has a polyethylene barrier that provides superior burst and seal strengths required for the rigors of oil. A larger, 5.1 quart FlexPak will be available next year.

ECO ULTRA currently is available for sale in 1-quart FlexPaks on Amazon.com and at selected installers and service centers throughout the U.S. For more information and to order, visit ecoultraoil.com or call 1.800.444.OILS.
